At what temperatures can I install screed?

We recommend only installing screed at temperatures between 5°C and 25°C, as this ensures that the screed will not become sandy or come loose. Also make sure that the screed feels fresh/cold during installation or that the ambient temperature does not drop below 5°C. Do not install screed at high temperatures during the summer period either. The drying of the screed will be accelerated, preventing the cement from having the opportunity to bond with the sand.

In extremely hot weather, you can use the tips below:

We would like to remind you that installing screed during the hottest moments of the day (+25°C) is not recommended, or at least the following measures should be taken.

Not only the air temperature is important. You also need to take into account the temperature of the substrate, the screed, and the materials themselves. Outside of these temperatures, proper functioning of the products can no longer be guaranteed.

Place the materials as much as possible in a cool place and shield the surface from the sun.

Screed can dry out faster than you expect at temperatures above 25°C. This can cause the top layer to burn.

Afterwards, cover the screed with a plastic sheet to prevent the surface from drying out too quickly.

The water in the screed evaporates, leaving insufficient moisture for a chemical reaction with the cement. As a result, the binding of the cement is lost.

If necessary, lightly moisten the substrate with a water mist and, if needed, make the screed slightly wetter.

Message that always applies during the installation of screed: always wear protective clothing, and ensure that screed (cement) never comes into direct contact with the skin. This can cause severe burns.
