Insulation screed in the bathroom: Primer and levelling needed?

A customer asked whether cement-based leveling and primer are necessary for a bathroom, since insulation screed would be directly tileable. Staenis replied that a leveling layer of self-leveling compound or tile adhesive improves the quality of tiling, but that tiling after applying and drying a primer is also possible. For wet areas such as a bathroom, the entire floor can be made waterproof, but often only the walk-in shower is waterproofed.
