Is a primer needed for screed or stabilizer when installing a terrace?

The customer has a question about the correct products for the installation of his terrace, specifically whether a primer is needed under the screed or stabilised sand.

Staenis has referred him to the page suitable floor structure for terraces to choose a suitable floor structure and asked to provide the number of the chosen structure for further assistance.

On the other hand, it is not recommended to apply a primer on top of a screed in an outdoor application. This could cause moisture damage. A solution for this is to apply a scratch coat of tile adhesive on the screed in advance.

For more information about the right products for the construction of your terrace, including whether a primer is needed under the screed or stabilisé, you can consult the following page.
